Roll and Pleat Style Cornice
You will need: Four 56” (62”) (84”) x 9 ½ ” Fabric panels
Two foam swim “noodles”
Six thumb tacks or a staple gunTo Assemble:
Step 1: Cut foam swim “noodles” in half lengthwise, you should now have four pieces. Measure each half to 38” (54) (76”) Handy Tip: We found a kitchen electric carving knife works well.
Step 2: Take the first length of fabric and starting at the top secure fabric panel in the channel using the friction foam rope. Working with cornice facing forward place one of the four halved swim “noodles” snuggly against the cornice edge, pull fabric panel over the “noodle”, take the second fabric panel and lay it front sides together across the first one secure both layers of fabric and the first “noodle” onto cornice face front with a thumb tack or staple. Be sure the overlapping fabric lays smooth across the cornice. Repeat this step until all “noodles” are secured. Wrap the bottom of your last roll over the cornice edge and secure in channel with the friction foam rope.
Step 3: Turn cornice face down and starting from the top fold the side pleats and secure in the channel with the friction foam rope. Turn and repeat on the opposite end of the cornice.
You have just created your own beautiful, elegant cornice easily and in less than a half an hour!
If you don’t think the fabric covering the cornice ends are tight enough, just gently pull a section of the friction foam rope out, pull fabric a little tighter and replace the friction foam rope. You can change the whole look of your room by using different fabrics, adornments, trims or create a whole different style and all using the same cornice over again.
